四九年八月一日臺灣工作
在臺北正式開始
那時臺灣非常落後，我非常不習慣
所以，請你們忘記人的因素，只看事實，看果子。主用寶血遮蓋我，有一些事，因着我個人在其中所占的成分相當多，所以我說的時候，覺得不太方便。但我不得不向你們陳明一些歷史的事實。一九四七年十二月，我們有幾位同工到香港服事，那時不過只有少數人聚會。還記得我頭一次講道時，聽的人沒有超過一百位。我們約住了七天，就離開了。而後，到了一九四八年底，中國大陸因為政局，起了很大的變動。到了一九四九年四月以後，工作就安排我離開大陸到臺灣。五月間，我到了臺灣，看看那裏的光景，以人來說，除了失望灰心，沒有別的。當時我們在大陸，尤其在上海，工作是相當蒙主祝福，人數也是十分眾多。主日上午大聚會，就已經有將近兩千人。有福音佈道會時，更是超過兩千人。那時我們剛剛在上海南陽路，造好一個大會所，裏面可以坐三千人，外面空地可以坐兩千人。大會所才造好不久，玻璃窗還沒有裝，裏面還沒有粉刷油漆，工作就安排我離開。當時我的感覺很深，因為大會所完全是在我的帶領下建造，一切都還沒有上軌道，同工們就給我電報，要我離開上海到臺灣。那時，臺灣是非常的落後，馬路上到處是卵石子，大部分人都是穿木屐，走起路來嘎啦嘎啦響，我非常不習慣。我一直問主，到底來這裏能作什麼？
順着縱貫鐵路
一站一站看望散居弟兄姊妹
一直到六、七月間，我裏頭有個感覺，應當順着縱貫鐵路，一站一站的去看望那些散居在鐵路沿線的弟兄姊妹。當時隨政府機關、學校、醫院等，從大陸撤退到臺灣的，約有三百位弟兄姊妹，散居在各主要城市，大家的消息都不太靈通。於是，我就沿着鐵路，一站一站的探訪弟兄姊妹。那時，除了臺北之外，只有高雄和臺中有聚會，其他地方最多只有禱告聚會。
四九年八月一日臺灣工作在臺北正式開始
這樣出去訪問了幾個地方後，我裏頭感覺臺灣雖是個小地方，但為着主還有許多可作的。所以，我就和弟兄們交通，應當在報紙上登一個通啟，讓弟兄姊妹知道，我們幾位弟兄都到了臺灣，在臺北開始聚會了。同時，刊出我們的住址和聚會地點，盼望各地願意和我們有交通的弟兄姊妹，盡力與我們聯絡。感謝主，藉此許多到了臺灣的弟兄姊妹，就聯繫起來了。到了一九四九年八月一日，臺灣的工作就在臺北正式開始，並且有一個特別聚會。
五五年有三、四十處地方召會
人數約兩萬
簡單的說，到了一九四九年底，臺北聚會的人數已經近一千位。可以說，臺北聚會的人數半年幾乎翻了三十倍。那個時候，只有我一個人全時間事奉，其他弟兄姊妹都是帶職業的。一九五一年，有一次非正式的訓練。在那之後，產生了八十到一百位全時間事奉的人。到了一九五三年秋天，開始頭一次正式的訓練，為期四個月之久。這次的訓練非常蒙主祝福，屬靈的情形非常高。到了一九五五年，全臺灣就有三、四十處地方召會，總人數約兩萬。一九四九年開工時，全臺灣不過三、五百位聖徒。到了一九五五年，全臺灣聖徒就有兩萬。到了一九五七年，全臺灣的地方召會共有四十到五十處，聖徒人數也有兩萬三千的光景。這是頭八年，從一九四九到一九五七年的情形。
