在花東服事的一些見證拾遺
我一九八一年到花蓮，至今已三十四年，這些年來對主恢復在東部的拓展有相當深入的了解，然並未見過劉湛庠弟兄。從弟兄姊妹的見證裏，知道他也是在東部開展的先驅之一，曾經三度到東部來，最後一次應是一九六八年前後，直至他中風返回臺北養病。從弟兄姊妹的見證裏知道劉弟兄的行事為人：
一、他是一個卑微的人，殷勤勞苦的服事，挨家挨戶的訪問聖徒，低肩負重，有拿撒勒人耶穌的人性美德。早年同工生話比較辛苦，但劉弟兄積極服事從未抱怨。
二、劉弟兄非常絕對並積極的跟隨工作領頭弟兄的帶領，從未講論批評或有消極的言論，這給聖徒們和他的兒女們很好的榜樣。
三、他不苟言笑，看似嚴肅，但心裏溫柔，熱愛弟兄姊妹。
四、早年花東偏遠，交通不便，召會數及聖徒人數皆不多，弟兄除了在花蓮服事外，也會到鳳林、玉里、臺東等地，一地住一個星期，那時東部沒甚麼高等學府，所以他也服事配搭兒童及青少年的工作，像鳳林國中，花蓮女中等。
五、從召會通問的記載裏得知，那時也有一些原住民的工作，在花蓮壽豐的月眉村，原住民的聚集曾達百位。
今天在花東召會數已有十七處，聖徒聚會人數已達千人以上，這都是劉湛庠弟兄等早期同工披荊斬棘所立美好根基而產生的結果。當我們緬懷這些開拓的歷史時，我們也當受題醒，不能放鬆。我們當站在這些美好的基礎上，把自己再度倒空，積極的往前，直到基督的身體完成建造，使主能以回來。
