我对父亲的一些印象（下）
父亲的提醒，全时间服事不打退堂鼓
在台湾读研究所期间，我对父亲提到将来全时间服事的心愿，父亲竟然哭起来，让我非常讶异。他对我说，全时间服事是一种很辛苦的生活，一定要想清楚。我想，还好有父亲这样的提醒，所以后来在服事中虽然遇到一些为难的情形，都没有打退堂鼓的念头。
神带领我们家走『新路』
『新恩』是我们对神祝福的回应
一九八一年底，我与受惠在台北十四会所结婚，那一天父亲非常高兴，也在聚会中说了许多勉励的话。一九八二年夏天，我到美国参加训练，行前那次是与父亲最后一次的见面。一九八三年我在Dallas的一家中餐馆打工，工作辛苦且内心郁闷，但父亲借着大女儿的出生，对我说了许多鼓励的话。他说，他相信神会带领我们家走『新路』，因此他给我的大女儿取名『刘新路』。在以后的年日中，神的确借着父亲的预言祝福了我们一家，因此我们给二女儿取名『新恩』，这是我们对神祝福的回应。
父亲一九八五年过世时，我正在德州读研究所，因着完全没有回去的条件，也就没有回去奔丧。一直到二〇一三年，父亲迁葬到南加州的恩典陵园，心中的遗憾才稍微平息。
回顾父亲一生
一、不只他自己爱主服事主，也鼓励他的子女爱主事奉主。直到今天，我们全家都以事奉主为最荣耀的一件事。约书亚记二十四章十五节的宣告，是父亲一生的见证：『至于我和我家，我们必定事奉耶和华。』
二、在开展上，他愿意打破玉瓶为主倾倒一切，到最艰苦地区去开展。父母第一次去花莲开展的时候生出了我，之后母亲得了偏头痛。第二次去花莲服事时父亲中风了，从此行动不便，但他完全没有埋怨主。
三、在工作上，他把自己完全交给带领的弟兄们，不会因着家庭、孩子的牵挂而有自己的选择。搬家的大箱子永远准备好，随时预备往下一站移动。
四、在成全牧养圣徒上，父亲不辞辛劳，一家一家去照顾。我小时候对父亲的另一个印象，就是他几乎天天晚上骑脚踏车出去，不是去聚会就是去看望圣徒。中风之后，他就用祷告来服事圣徒。
父亲的生活榜样、为人细节深深的影响到我，也非常有助于我的服事。我很荣幸我有这样一位父亲。
