非我惟主
被人高举并爱敬
对于服事主，刘湛庠弟兄的态度是—我是个奴隶。奴隶是没有自主权的，连性命也是属于主人的。主人给予他妻子儿女，这妻子儿女都是属于主人的。记得他说过多次，『奴隶的孩子还是奴隶』。如此，其儿女觉得我们家爱主事主到万代，是理所当然的！
他带领儿女认识基督并珍赏基督，不在于别的，乃在于『不再是我，乃是基督』。诗歌四百三十三首：『非我惟主，被人高举并爱敬；非我惟主，被人传扬相信。』其中所写正如倪柝声弟兄所著《正常的基督徒生活》一书封面上的两句话: 『不再是我，乃是基督』。
他是吃苦耐劳不受高抬的美好榜样。遇见刘弟兄，你就觉得他是一位有主丰盛生命的人，套用今日的属灵话语而言，他就是一位『神人』。你遇见了他，就遇见了主的『柔和谦卑』。
回顾弟兄一生：一、不只他自己爱主事主，也鼓励其子女爱主事奉主。二、在开展上，他愿意打破玉瓶为主倾倒一切，到最艰苦的地区去开展。三、在工作上，他把自己完全交给带领的弟兄们，没有自己的选择。四、在成全牧养圣徒上，他不辞辛劳，一家一家去照顾。
刘弟兄罹胃癌住院，病榻上的他似乎是软弱的，但回首过往岁月，仍然清楚记得：他抱着那本读过无数遍的圣经赴会的庄严神情，他供应话语时字字是灵，句句是生命的刚强模样，以及他深入穷乡僻壤服事弟兄姊妹的劳苦身影。他爱主深，受苦也深。我们见证他是主的一代忠仆，只知倾酒，不知饮酒；只想擘饼，不想留饼。
一九九五年夏季训练结束后，李弟兄邀晚辈到他安那翰的家里交通，特别提及：『湛庠弟兄是一个忠信的弟兄。』
