非我惟主
被人高舉並愛敬
對於服事主，劉湛庠弟兄的態度是—我是個奴隸。奴隸是沒有自主權的，連性命也是屬於主人的。主人給予他妻子兒女，這妻子兒女都是屬於主人的。記得他說過多次，『奴隸的孩子還是奴隸』。如此，其兒女覺得我們家愛主事主到萬代，是理所當然的！
他帶領兒女認識基督並珍賞基督，不在於別的，乃在於『不再是我，乃是基督』。詩歌四百三十三首：『非我惟主，被人高舉並愛敬；非我惟主，被人傳揚相信。』其中所寫正如倪柝聲弟兄所著《正常的基督徒生活》一書封面上的兩句話: 『不再是我，乃是基督』。
他是吃苦耐勞不受高抬的美好榜樣。遇見劉弟兄，你就覺得他是一位有主豐盛生命的人，套用今日的屬靈話語而言，他就是一位『神人』。你遇見了他，就遇見了主的『柔和謙卑』。
回顧弟兄一生：一、不只他自己愛主事主，也鼓勵其子女愛主事奉主。二、在開展上，他願意打破玉瓶為主傾倒一切，到最艱苦的地區去開展。三、在工作上，他把自己完全交給帶領的弟兄們，沒有自己的選擇。四、在成全牧養聖徒上，他不辭辛勞，一家一家去照顧。
劉弟兄罹胃癌住院，病榻上的他似乎是軟弱的，但回首過往歲月，仍然清楚記得：他抱著那本讀過無數遍的聖經赴會的莊嚴神情，他供應話語時字字是靈，句句是生命的剛強模樣，以及他深入窮鄉僻壤服事弟兄姊妹的勞苦身影。他愛主深，受苦也深。我們見證他是主的一代忠僕，只知傾酒，不知飲酒；只想擘餅，不想留餅。
一九九五年夏季訓練結束後，李弟兄邀晚輩到他安那翰的家裡交通，特別題及：『湛庠弟兄是一個忠信的弟兄。』
